Hello and welcome to an orientation to Computer Keyboarding Online. My name is Arlene Zimmerly. I’m a professor in the CAOT Department and your online professor for this course. I’m sure you have a lot of questions about online courses and I hope to answer most of your questions in this presentation.

This online orientation will include information that applies to Computer Keyboarding 1 and also to Computer Keyboarding 2.  It will include steps for students who are working at home on their own computers and steps for students who are using networked computers in our labs at LACC. Make sure you have read through the Web site pages before viewing this orientation

You will attend a mandatory on-campus orientation session with during the first or second week of the course. I will send you an e-mail message with the exact date and time. In the mandatory on-campus orientation, you will have a chance to ask questions yourself and you will learn about the course and related software in more detail. Together, we will review your daily routine and discuss typing technique, grading and evaluation, and methods of communication. I will give you tips on completing this course successfully and demonstrate the GDP course software, e-mail, and MSN Instant Messenger. You will use GDP to log-on, do some work, and upload to the Instructor Management Web site. Let’s get started.
