GDP—Install and Use
 

  1. Click here for the steps to setup and install GDP.
  2. Click here for the steps to log on to GDP.
  3. Click here for the steps to specify settings in GDP.
  4. Listen to the Online Welcome Tutorial.
  5. To begin working in GDP, select a lesson from the Lessons menu.
  6. For this tutorial, select Lesson 1, Exercise J, 1-Minute Timed Writing, OK.
  7. Read the directions and click the Next button at the bottom of the GDP window 3 times until you get to the 1-minute timed writing window.
  8. Open the book to Lesson 1, Lines 18-19, or look at the projection screen in the front of the room, and take the timing. The timer starts with your first keystroke.
  9. When the timing is over, read the directions and click the the Next button. Click Yes to review scored text. Click the the Next button. For now, click No to the prompt asking if you want to repeat the timing.
  10. Go to Lesson 25, Correspondence 25-1, double-click, read the directions, and click the the Next button; click Create Correspondence 25-1; type Hi, Muriel:  and click GDP, Return to GDP, Yes (to save), Yes (to score, Yes (to review), and click the the Next button.
  11. Click the Portfolio button and click OK to see your timing and Correspondence 25-1. In the Student Portfolio window, click the 1' timing and click the View Text button; do the same for Correspondence 25-1; click Return to Program to return to the Lesson menu.
  12. Reselect Correspondence 25-1  and click Edit Correspondence 25-1. Notice that the Proofreading Viewer opens. Edit the text in the window at the bottom and exit and save. Click here for steps to edit a document and use the Proofreading Viewer.

  14. Close GDP.
