Manage Files—Find, Delete, Open, Print

  1. Click the Windows Start button, Search, For Files and Folders.
  2. In the left panel, click Documents (word processing, spreadsheet, etc.)
  3. In the All or part of the document name box, type *.doc.
  4. Click Use advanced search options.
  5. In the Look in box, click the list arrow and click Desktop.
  6. Click the Search button. You should see all files stored in the Desktop ending in doc listed.
  7. Right-click the desired file, and click Delete. Notice the other choices of Open, Print, Copy, etc.
  8. Click Start a new search.
  9. Click All files and folders.
  10. In the All or part of the find name box, type GDPDATA. This is the default directory name where your data files are stored.
  11. In the Look in box, click the list arrow and click 3˝ Floppy (A:) if you are storing GDP files on a floppy OR click Local Hard Drives (C:) if you are storing GDP files on your hard drive.
  12. When the directory is found, click Stop.
  13. Click the icon for GDPDATA to open the folder. Notice the *.DRP files and the *.doc Word file(s). Occasionally, students have to attach these files to an email to troubleshoot a problem.
  14. Close the Search Results window.
  15. Right-click the Windows Start button and click Explore; in the Folders panel, browse to the GDPDATA directory and open it; click the Close button.
