GDP—Install and Use

  1. Click here for the steps to setup and install GDP.
  2. In the LACC CAOT labs, insert your disk, double-click the GDP Distance Learning icon to launch GDP, and click OK. Type your password and click OK. At home, double-click the GDP Distance Learning icon to launch GDP and click OK. (Note: At home, you won't need a data disk since you should have chosen to store your files on your hard drive when you installed GDP.)
  3. Click Exit to exit the GDP tutorial for now.
  4. To begin working in GDP, select a lesson from the Lessons menu.
  5. For this tutorial, select Lesson 1, Exercise J, 1-Minute Timing, OK.
  6. Read the directions and click the Continue arrow at the bottom of the GDP window 3 times until you get to the 1-minute timing window.
  7. Open the book to Lesson 1, Lines 18-19, or look at the projection screen in the front of the room, and take the timing. The timer starts with your first keystroke.
  8. When the timing is over, read the directions and click the Continue arrow. Click Yes to review scored text. Click the Continue arrow. For now, click No to the prompt asking if you want to repeat the timing.
  9. Go to Lesson 26, Report 26-1, click OK, read the directions, and click the Continue arrow; click Create Report 26-1; type your first name and click GDP, Return to GDP, Yes (to save), Yes (to score, Yes (to review), and click the Continue arrow.
  10. Click the Portfolio button and click OK to see your timing and Report 26-1. In the Summary Report window, click the 1' timing and click the View Text button; do the same for Report 26-1; click Return 2 times to return to the Lesson menu.
  11. Click here for the steps to Export your work.
  12. Close GDP.
