Next; Next; Finish.
- Place the GDP Home Version CD into the
CD-ROM drive. The installer automatically launches after a few seconds.
Note: If the install program
does not launch automatically, from the Windows menu, click Start, Run.
In the Run window, type x:\setup (replace "x:"
with the letter for your CD-ROM drive, which is probably "d:").
Click OK.
- From the Welcome screen, click
Next.
- From the License Agreement,
click I accept the terms of the license agreement;
click Next.
- From the Select Destination Location
screen, accept C:\GDPHOME;
click Next.
- From the Select Student Data
Location screen, accept Save student data on other media to
store your work in a data directory on your computer's hard drive or on
other removable media such as a USB drive; click
Next.
- From the Select Student Data Path
screen, accept C:\GDPDATA;
click Next.
Note: Do not save your data
on a floppy disk because your disk will fill up and a floppy drive is very
slow; most students have a great deal of trouble deleting the appropriate
files when the disk fills up.
-
From the Install Complete
screen, click Finish.
An Irwin Keyboarding program group opens
with this shortcut.
- Right-click the icon and send a
shortcut to your Windows Desktop.

GDP will launch and
check for Live Updates if you are on the Internet when you open GDP.
The first time you install GDP, you should always check for a Live
Update so you are using the most current version.
If you are prompted that a live update is
available, be sure to download it so that your software is always
current! If you are not on the Internet when you open GDP for the
first time, log-on to the Internet, click Help, Live Update, and
follow the prompts to download the latest version of GDP.
To find out what version of
GDP you are using, click Help, About, from the GDP menu in the
upper left hand corner of the screen.

Tutorial
starts. Click the numbered buttons at the bottom of the screen to
complete the tutorial and click Exit when
you're done.

Note: Under Full Editing,
in Timed Writings and Drills, ask your instructor what
setting to
check. If
you correct errors on timings, your speed is decreased and your
concentration might be broken. However, some students relax more
during a timed writing when they know they can correct errors and therefore
do better. Make your choice here based on your own skills and
preferences. Correcting errors on drills generally leads to poor
technique.
