Hello, Students:

My name is Charlene Morimoto, and I will be your online professor for Computer Keyboarding 1 Online during the upcoming semester. You will use the most popular post-secondary keyboarding textbook, Gregg College Keyboarding and Document Processing for Windows ("GDP"), along with MS Word 2010 in this full-semester, 3-unit class.

You will learn to type by touch (without looking at your hands), increase your keyboarding speed and accuracy, and create and format documents using MS Word 2010. Because you will be learning to type and to use the basic features of Word, you are getting the benefit of two classes combined into one. You can work at home on your own computer or use a networked computer at Los Angeles City College in one of our labs (DH 202, 203, 204, or 205).

For more information, click the FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions) and Course Outline link at the top of this page. To get started in the course:

bulletGo to FAQ 9 and follow the steps to enroll.
bulletPurchase the textbook kit so that you have it in your hands on the first day of the semester or no later than the orientation meeting. Click here for details.
bulletBe sure to attend the mandatory orientation meeting on Tuesday, September 6, 2011, from 5-7 p.m. in DH 204, and bring your textbook with you; we'll begin Lesson 1 together! Attending will enable you to get off to a smooth start in this course.
bulletPeruse the other pages (links at the top of this page) before beginning Lesson 1.
bulletIf this course is "closed" and you wish to add, contact one of the following CAOT Instructional Assistants:  David Coleman (DH 202, Ext. 2908), David Janvelyan (DH 205, Ext. 2913), or Linda Motonaga (DH 204, Ext. 2906) at 323 953-4000 to pick up a signed Add Permit during Week 1. You will be asked to present a current semester appointment to register card, a printout of your current semester schedule, or some other evidence of enrollment at LACC. Be sure to submit the Add Permit to Admissions by the end of the first week, as a two-day processing period is required before you will be able to login to Etudes-NG, the course management system being used for this course.

I look forward to meeting you at our orientation meeting and working with you!
