Week 14

If you have not already done so, remember to make an appointment to come in this week to take the Unit 6 Test. Bring your books with you.
As announced last week, the deadline to resubmit all proofreading check documents, assigned documents, and document processing tests is next week Sunday (Week 15)—NO EXCEPTIONS!!

The best way to improve your grade at this point in time is to work on skillbuilding to increase your speed and accuracy. (Read the "tips" on your Assignment Sheet for building speed.) Then repeat any practice tests with low grades, and recreate any proofreading check documents to earn back lost proofreading points. Take this warning very seriously. It could make the difference between a pass and a fail for some of you.

Deadline for Late Tests. Any late tests remaining should also be completed on or before Tuesday of Week 15. Friday of Week 15 will be final exam day, from 12 noon-2 p.m., with only final 3-minute timings being given—absolutely no document testing will be given—NO EXCEPTIONS. Anyone who has missing documents or tests will earn a zero for any missing work.

Testing with an Instructional Assistant.  If you cannot meet on the day the final is scheduled, plan ahead.  It is YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to schedule a time with Linda Motonaga, David Coleman, or David Janvelyan IN ADVANCE OF THE DEADLINE DATE to complete your testing and your final 3-minute timed writings. Check Etudes-NG ANNOUNCEMENTS and your email for details on dates and times.

Incomplete Grade.  Some students think they can request an incomplete if they are not finished or are behind schedule. ABSOLUTELY NO INCOMPLETES WILL BE GIVEN FOR THIS REASON—NO EXCEPTIONS. Incompletes are reserved for students who miss one project or one test because of circumstances beyond their control (acute personal illness and/or hospitalization, for example) and who were in "good standing" prior to the event.

Never take an actual document processing test on campus until you have successfully completed the practice document processing tests! You will not be successful.

You may take this test with me on Friday of this week or Tuesday of next week.  If you need to schedule a testing appointment with an Instructional Assistant, make those arrangements several days in advance.  Send me an email message to confirm a time and date for the test.

You get only one chance at passing this test, so you want to be prepared. Bring your books with you.

bullet

You must take your test this week or next week. If you haven't taken this test by the end of next week, an automatic 10% late penalty will be taken. For example, if you earned an A+ but the test was late, your grade would be lowered automatically to a B+.

bullet

If I haven't evaluated your technique yet, you must e-mail me immediately.  I am available Tuesdays and Fridays up until Week 15 of the semester. Remember that your technique must be acceptable in order to pass the class.

Turn in your remaining skillbuilding lessons once a week (no later than Sunday evening each week) rather than one at a time.
From this point on, you will be focusing your efforts entirely on skillbuilding. Below are the goals for speed on a 3-minute timing with 3 errors or fewer:

A = 40+ w.p.m.

bullet

B = 35-39

C = 30-34
