Upload Work

If your instructor has asked you to upload work to the Internet to the Instructor Management Web Site and visit the Student Web Site as part of your daily routine, do this:

Using Upload to Transfer Work
Learn to use GDP's Upload feature to transfer work from a computer to the Instructor Management Web site and Student Web Site. This presentation is for students who work at home, upload to the Instructor Management Web site, and use the Student Web site.

Quick Start: Upload; Upload work completed since your last update; Upload Work to Student Upload Web Site; right-click in the Browse box, Paste, Upload.

Upload Feature

  • Click Upload.
  • In the Upload window, click Upload work completed since your last update.
  • Click the second button, Upload Work to Student Upload Web Site.

Note: If you receive a message that says, "No new files to upload!" and you want to upload anyway or want to be sure all your files have been sent, click OK. Return to GDP and click Upload, Upload all work.

  • In the Upload Work window, click Store the Upload File. You will see your own first and last name in this box when you are sending your upload file. Note: At LACC, store the file on the Windows Desktop or on a floppy or USB drive.

  • Your browser will open automatically to the Student Upload Web Site.
  • Right-click and click Paste in the Browse box to paste the path to the most recent upload file.
  • Click Upload to send your work to the Instructor Management Web site.

  • When the upload is complete, you will see a report indicating which files were successfully uploaded and your e-mail address as you stored it in GDP under Options, Personal Information. If you get a message that the upload was not successful, contact me.

Specify Password at the Student Web Site (SWS)

  • In the Home installation of GDP, click Options, Personal Information. Verify that your e-mail address is correct in the Your e-mail address box. It must be an exact match to your e-mail address at the Instructor Management Web site and at the Student Web site.
Note: Students working at LACC should skip this step and go directly to the next step.

  • Go to the SWS at http://gdpstudent.mhhe.com and type your e-mail address in the Your E-mail Address box and type your password in the Your Password box and click Log On. The e-mail address must be an exact match to your e-mail address in GDP and at the Instructor Management Web site. Ask your instructor for your password. It should be the same one you use to log on in class.

Log on to the Student Web Site (SWS)

When you successfully upload your work to the Instructor Management Web Site, your instructor will automatically receive an e-mail message notifying him/her of your new work (see below for an example) and all your work is also automatically sent to the Student Web Site.

Your instructor will annotate your work and e-mail you with directions to go the SWS and check for annotations. If you don't get a response within a day of uploading, please e-mail your instructor. To check for annotations, do this:

  • Log on to the SWS.

  • Click Student Portfolio, View Portfolio; look under the Date column for the letter "A," and place a check mark next to each of these exercises. The "A" means that I have annotated this exercise.

  • Click View Detailed Report, read the comments in the General Comments box, mouse over the Annotation icon to view my annotations.

  • Read any comments in the General Comment box and hold your mouse over the page icon to see any annotations. Scroll down to be sure you don't miss any annotations. Click Log Off when you're done.

  • If you want to download your work and your annotations to your computer, click the Download Grades button and follow the steps there. This feature is very handy if you move to a second location and want to synchronize your work at the second location so you can continue working.
