Unit G

In this tutorial, students learn what FTP is and how it works.  Students learn how to compress and decompress files and to check them for viruses.  Students trace the connection between their computers and a remote computer.  Students explore file-based storage options on the Internet.  They also learn how to use Yahoo! Briefcase to upload and download a file.  They will learn about file transfer modes, file types and extensions, decompressing files, and checking for viruses.

This project will cover the basics:

  • What is FTP

  • Learn to compress decompress

  • install compression software

  • Check for virus

  • storage option on internet
