Perhaps seeing some comments I made for Web sites from previous
semesters will give you some idea of what I am looking for and help you
create your own unique Web site. Some former topics: Helping Those With
Scoliosis; Your Bartender; Amigos de San Isidro Cabanas. Enjoy!!
| Below are former Web sites to be used for inspiration and ideas.
Please note that these Web sites were created under Final guidelines
that differ from the current ones, so use them for inspiration only.
Model yours after Yuko Kondo's Web site. |

The
Armenian Genocide by Siranush Sahakyan
The home page is
dramatic, moving, and appropriate for the topic with an excellent
application of color, design, animated graphics (eternal flames), and
music. The quote is very inspirational. The custom hover buttons on
the
Khachkars page are particularly effective. The use of the photo
gallery feature (Mount
Ararat,
Churches, and
Yerevan pages) and the picture position feature was also
particularly well done. The use of raised caps is a nice design
feature on the
History and
Map pages. |
|
Bailey's First-Class Travel by David Sikking
The customized
theme for this Web site with its creative use of WordArt, background
colors, tables, and pictures is outstanding. The design of the main
pages in the
frames page is crisp and clean. The
Central California Coastline page on the frames page makes
effective use of sound and transition with the gentle fade in. The
effective use of thumbnails at the bottom of the
Yosemite page and
Sequoia page gives you the feel of a photo gallery with the
user-friendly transition page backwards that includes attractive hover
buttons with a "sunny glow." The
Madonna Inn
page makes effective use of the Photo Gallery feature. |

Brigade
Brass Band by James Rose
Where
do I begin. This Web site is phenomenal in so many ways. The design of
the Web site is unified and appropriate to the topic from the flashing
horizontal line to the opening music to the splashy Top hyperlink in the
bottom shared border. All of it gives you a "feel" for the spirit of the
this band and its Web master. If you move your mouse over the third
musician from the left, you will see that it is a picture of our very
own James Rose! A couple of PowerPoint presentations were added such as
Pictures of the American Civil War on the interactive button on the
Photo Gallery page. While you're there, click the next interactive
button to the right for a little surprise. Also, when you go to the
Music page and mouse over "Music of the Era," watch what happens to
your scroll bar.
The
Guest Book page is an excellent example of a form page in design,
functionality, and content. The
Merchandise frameset page is proof that simplicity is the name of
the game. Please visit the Final page and read through the Extra Credit
row to see just how much this Web site has been enhanced--outstanding!! |
|
Celine Dion's
Lyrics by Patricia Martinez
The
design of this Web site is absolutely beautiful and complements the
subject perfectly. Check out the "bubbles" at the bottom of the Feedback
page and the screen tips when you mouse over—very cool! Notice the
musical notes used as a bullet in the bottom shared border. |
|
Christmas
in the Philippines by Leonora Millera
The
attention to detail and the customization in this Web site are absolutely
extraordinary!! As you browse through each page, notice the customized
background, music, bullets, animation, etc. There's just too much to
describe. Notice that EACH page has customized button graphics in the
navigation bar that coordinate with the background—I'm sure Leonora hasn't
slept all semester—how could she. The snowflakes on the home page are
delightful, and the rich colors on the
Traditions page are opulent. Scroll down this page and click the
thumbnail picture to move to another page full of sparkling stars—I
almost missed it. The Food page will make your mouth water with all the
wonderful recipes. The
Lantern Style page has a beautiful application of the photo gallery
feature. On the
Creating Lanterns frameset page, notice the use of staggered
hyperlinks with pictures in the contents pane!! As you click each link,
notice the customized backgrounds on each and every page. The
Christmas Music page has an intricate table in which Leonora has
inserted intricate graphics inside a table with a red background for a
beautiful, elaborate result that looks like a bulleted list, but it's not.
There aren't enough extra credit points for a site like this. |

out his amazing original Web page designs and photographs on his Gallery

his fabulous photographs!! We're going to keep our eye on Darrell! |
|
Digital Azteca by Moises Casillas
The design of the
Web site (including choice of pictures) is dramatic, appropriate for
the subject, and very effective. The use of a black background
showcases the pictures and makes the pages very attractive. The use of
the blue divider graphic on the top of the pages also adds to the
drama. |
|
El
Salvador Travel Agency by Ana Olivares
The
home page design and sound is very dramatic and regal! The
History page is fascinating. It's always so enlightening to learn
about the history and roots of another country. The
Cities frameset page has a very effective, clean and simple design
that makes you want to read on. And what about that Home hyperlink—very
cool! An on to the
Restaurants page—where did you get those great pictures that are
making me so hungry! |

Gold
Rum by Kaori Masuda
The
greatest strength of this Web site lies in its simplicity and clean
appearance. I have visited some Web sites that are so filled with
information and clutter that I don't know where to look first. The
colors you chose are gorgeous and the WordArt enhances the look of
your pages. The
Shop
frames page is particularly effective with the use of the thumbnail
pictures and convenient hover buttons a visitor could use to place an
order. The Photo Gallery feature is used very effectively on all the
main pages of the frameset. |
|
Hatha Yoga by
Saori Asayama
All
features were included exactly as required and your theme, animations,
pictures, and design are excellent throughout. The Chakras page is
intriguing with the comments and special effects that you added. The
animations on the Breathing page are also intriguing. The theme chosen
is very appropriate for the subject matter. The citations included on
the Final page are the best I've seen in this course to date. |
|
Korean Barbeque
and Kimchi by Eun He Kim
The
design, attention to detail, and feel of the Web site are outstanding.
The use of tables as a design element is evident on the About Korean
Food page. The questions and choices on the Guest Book page are
thoughtful and the design is clean. You're hired. |
Lupita
Narkevicius' Employment Showcase
by Lupita Narkevicius
The entire Web site is excellent in all details. I especially like
the welcome message on the home page. On the
Work History page, I love the use of the heading in the banner frame
and the banner ad on the first main page. The
Life Achievements page makes excellent use of a table structure with
staggered thumbnail pictures and corresponding information. |
|
Machu
Picchu by Susanna Ramos
The opening
page is nothing short of spectacularly dramatic (program used was Freddy
Trend Intros and java applets were used for text effects). When you've finished this
opening show, click "skip intro" to move the second, equally dramatic home
page. The customized theme enhances and relates to the subject matter perfectly.
Check out the beautiful table application on the
Inca Trail page. Then notice that when you click the Next Day hover
button at the bottom of the page, you continue down the Inca Trail to Day
2 of 4. Continue clicking the Next Day and Previous Day buttons until you
have navigated the entire trail!! Very clever!! Explore all pages of this
Web site. You'll be entranced. |
|
The Making
of Citizen Kane by Thomas Bell
This Web
site receives an Oscar from me. The theme is gorgeous, the customized,
watermarked, black-and-white backgrounds and circle transitions fit
perfectly with the feeling of an old movie, and the background sounds add
a great deal to the drama of the site. The Beginning page makes excellent
use of thumbnails linking to a user-friendly customized page. The child
pages for Orson Welles and Herman Mankiewicz illustrate the effective use
of manually inserted link bars with good choices for link bar properties
to minimize space devoted to the link bars. The Conflicts frameset page is
also a great application of custom link bars with an appropriate use of
space. The dramatic background sound on the Production #281 page is
great. |
|
Maya
Products by Raul Lopez
The Web site is
effective and professional in both content and design. The
Products frames page is very effective in its content and
appearance and the Buy hover button is a great idea!! |
|
Metal Gear Solid 3 by Erick Duenas
The
theme, music, animation, content, etc., are all first rate and enhance
the subject matter in every way. This Web site deserves a special award
for the professional look and feel it projects. Please explore each and
every page for special effects and surprises of all kinds in design,
animation, etc. |
|
Minds
Eye by Michael Buntag
The quality of
graphics, attention to detail in the design, content, and style are
absolutely exquisite and consistent from page to page! This Web site
has a sophisticated, professional look and feel throughout. |
|
Morah Francine's Classroom by Mike Farkas
The design and
content of the Web site is completely appropriate for the subject
matter and and target audience in every aspect. The attention to
detail is excellent including a custom theme, a custom hand-drawn hit
counter, and a custom confirmation page for the
Volunteer form found as a hyperlink on the
In the Classroom page. A whimsical feel is evident throughout the
Web site in its use of bright colors, design, and animation
particularly on the
Class Pets page. Note the creative use of a frames page in
combination with a table structure on the
Activities page. |
|
|
Paperback Hero by Ashley Van Zandt
The
design of this Web site is intense in its simplicity and use of red,
black, and white all of which makes for a very dramatic look. Click the
Media link to see a very creative use of a video (Paperback Hero) and
PowerPoint presentation (At the Whiskey). The design of the frameset
Pictures page is fabulous! This site really rocks! |
|
Philippine Cuisine by Jacqueline Buan
The
Web site design is clean and attractive and you have chosen an appropriate
theme. The arrangement of the bottom shared border is particularly well
done including the custom picture for the Top hyperlink. The design of the
Recipes frameset page is very attractive. An exceptional amount of
work was done on the
Glossary and
Recipes page to create an alphabetical index with hyperlinks to
navigate through the page. The links from the
Restaurants page back to the
Map page and vice versa is very creative and very practical. Any
visitor would appreciate very much the thoughtful way in which hyperlinks
have been added throughout for their convenience. This includes the
drop-down list of states in the
Guest Book. |
|
Prainha
Branca Village by Mariliz Aquino
The home page
absolutely captures the casual feel and intent of the Web site. The design
is clean and the content is clear and informative. The site has a great
deal of unity due to the consistency in design from page to page.
Excellent use of table structure and other FrontPage features on the
Attractions page. The entire site is well planned, designed with unity
and professionalism in mind, and very thorough in every detail. The
discussion group has been enhanced brilliantly. |
|
The Roof/Urban
Life by Johnny Joya
The
design and creative use of FrontPage features like the marquee and the
backgrounds in the table structure make this site edgy and fun in
keeping with the subject of the site. Notice in particular the
Crew,
Video, and Feedback pages for their creative design and original use of
table structure to position text and graphics! Dance anyone? |
|
Sushi
World by Kazuko Uehisha
The
simplicity of the home page makes the message very apparent along with
the use of the attention-grabbing video. The design of the entire Web
site is very inviting because of its simplicity. I love the music on the
Type
page and the clean table design. You have an original application for
the Photo Gallery feature on the
Useful Phrases page—great idea to use the captions/descriptions for
each phrase. The graphic on the
Guest Book page is charming! I can't wait to visit my favorite Sushi
bar! |
|
