Orphan 1-3

Setting Shared Borders, Link Bars, Page Banners, and Themes  for Unique Pages in a Web Site

This is Orphan 1-3 and I am using it to demonstrate how to handle a unique page in which you want to make its shared borders, link bars, page banners and theme different from the rest of the Web. To make any Web page unique in its use of shared borders, begin by selecting Format, Shared Borders, Current page (not All pages) for that page only. In this example, this page will not use a top shared border (uncheck Top) but it will include a left shared border with a link bar inserted manually, and the bottom shared border.
Even though you check Current page, if you actually edit a border, it is still indeed a shared border and will change all pages that use a shared border within the Web site. Therefore, you should just check or uncheck the boxes to either include or exclude the top or bottom shared borders since they are shared by the entire Web site. You can do whatever you like with the left shared border since it has been used on this page only.

To add a page banner to the top of a unique page that does not use a top shared border, move the insertion point to the top of the page (Ctrl-Home). Click Insert, Page Banner. Choose Picture or Text and type in the desired Page banner text. Select the page banner and center it or choose a desired alignment.

To add a Link bar to the left shared border of a unique page, move the insertion point inside the left shared border. Click Insert, Navigation; under Component type, click Link Bars; under Choose a Bar type, click Bar based on navigation structure (or your desired choice); click Next; under Choose a Bar Style, scroll down to the bottom of the list of choices and choose a desired HTML style if you want text rather than picture, Next; under Choose an Orientation, click Vertical, Finish. Under Link Bar Properties, choose Child pages under Home and Parent page, OK. You may select and delete the comment that appears in the left shared border, although it does not appear in the browser if you leave it there.

To select a unique theme for this page, choose Format, Theme, Selected page(s), click the desired theme, OK. Notice that the current page is transformed but no other pages in this Web site are affected.
