garden Web
site solution: At the end of each tutorial, I
will publish to the garden Web so that you will
always have the correct solution for the next tutorial.
You will find it at
http://ca112.lacitycollege.edu/ca112axx/garden in which xx
will be replaced by your assigned publishing number. You will then be
ready to open garden as it should be after the Review Assignment on p. 186 and continue working on it in Tutorial
4.
As always, the best way to learn to use FrontPage is to practice;
therefore, publish the garden Web site you
have been working on in class to

T3WS,
30 points:
Case Problem 2. On p. 187, read the
introductory paragraphs only and then follow the steps listed below rather
than those in your book.
When you received your grade for T2WS, you
should have saved that e-mail message. Open it now and use it as a checklist
to be sure that you have made all corrections on the list. I will DEDUCT
POINTS AGAIN for any errors you leave uncorrected from the
previous tutorial. I will DEDUCT MORE POINTS if you do not paste in
my e-mail message showing your previous your grade! When I am forced to look
up your grade for you, my valuable time is wasted because you haven't done
your job—please cooperate on this. You'll be glad you did.
When you are finished, your pages should have
the information arranged and formatted exactly like these screen shots. I
check for typos, formatting errors, and attention to detail; so
examine your home page carefully.

 |
 |
|
| Step 1: Open the grill Web at
http://ca112.lacitycollege.edu/ca112axx/grill. Step 2:
Open jobs.htm in Design view and review its contents.
Step 3: Format the second and third paragraphs in jobs.htm
(with the text "Managers" and "Staff Associates") as a bulleted list. change
the bullet character to the bullet.gif picture. Save the page and save the
picture in the Images folder.
Step 4: Change the five paragraphs below the paragraph that begins
"Garden Grill's managers are outstanding . . ." to a bulleted list with the
bullet.gif picture. If bullet.gif is not in your images
folder, go to the Tutorial.03, Grill, Images folder and import it.
Step 5: Change the six paragraphs below the paragraph that begins
"Garden Grill is one of the most . . ." to a bulleted list with the
bullet.gif picture.
Step 6: Create a bookmark for each heading in the page (the bold
"Managers" and "Staff Associates" text) using a lowercase name of your
choice that does not contain spaces or exceed eight characters. Then create
a hyperlink from each item in the first bulleted list to its corresponding
bookmark.
Step 7: Create a bookmark named top to the left of the
picture link bar at the top of the page.
Step 8: Format the two paragraphs beginning with the bold
"Managers" heading and ending with the paragraph that ends "the following
qualifications:" as a definition list. The paragraph with the bold
"Managers" heading is a defined term and the paragraph below it is the
definition.
Step 9: Indent the bulleted list below the
definition paragraph you created in Step 8 one additional tab stop. (Hint:
Select the bulleted list and then use the Increase Indent toolbar
button.)
Troubleshooting
spacing on a list. I had trouble getting the numbered list in this
step to single space. It looks single spaced in Page View in
FrontPage, but when you preview it in the browser, it appears double spaced.
To fix extra spacing in a list (with or without
nests) courtesy of Seol-Ah Park, F06 class: First, type an unformatted list.
Then select the unformatted list, Format, Bullets and Numbering,
Specify picture, Browse, click the desired picture, Open;
in the Picture Bullets tab, click Style; in the Modify
Style window, click Format, Paragraph; in the Paragraph
window, Spacing Before—type 0, Spacing After—type 0,
OK, OK, OK. In design view select the items to be
nested, click Increase Indent twice, then click the Numbering
button--voila!!
Step 10: Format the two paragraphs beginning with the bold "Staff
Associates" heading and ending with the paragraph that ends "at a Garden
Grill location near you:" as a definition list. The paragraph with the bold
"Staff Associates" heading is a defined term and the paragraphs below it is
the definition. Indent the bulleted list below the definition paragraph by
one additional tab stop.
Step 11: Create a new paragraph below the last bulleted list, and
then decrease the paragraph's indentation to zero. (Hint: Click at the end
of the "Bartenders" item in the list, press Enter twice to end the bulleted
list and create a new paragraph, and then use the Decrease Indent
toolbar button to change the new paragraph so it is not indented.)
Step 12: In the new paragraph you created in step 11, create a
"Top of Page" hyperlink using the top bookmark as its target.
Step 13: Create a "Top of Page" hyperlink to the top bookmark
below the bulleted list that appears below the "Managers" heading. Save
jobs.htm.
Step 14: Add a task associated with the Job Opportunities page
with the Task name New jobs with the description When the new
staff associate positions have been created, add them to this page. Assign the
task to yourself, and assign
it a high priority.
When you are done, paste a print screen of the Tasks view into homework.htm where
you have been saving screen shots of your practice tests.

Step 15: Preview the home page in the browser and test the
hyperlinks between pages and the hyperlinks to bookmarks. (Note: You will
add content to menu.htm, fran.htm, feedback.htm, and search.htm
in another tutorial.)
Step 16: In a new paragraph at the bottom of jobs.htm, use
the Insert Comment feature to add
a comment that you can see in Design view with the following content: "This
page last updated by [Your Name]." (Type your own name.) Save jobs.htm.
Paste a print screen of the jobs.htm page in Design
view with the
comment visible into homework.htm where you have been saving
screen shots of your practice tests.
Step 17:
Save
your Web and press F5 to refresh the Folder List view before beginning this
step to insure that your folders and files are accurately displayed.
In Folder List view, expand the Images
folder so that I can see the filenames of all files stored here. Drag the
right edge of the Folder List bar so that the entire Web site URL is
displayed. Paste a print screen of this page into homework.htm
where you have been saving screen shots of your practice tests. Your Web
should be organized as shown here. Your Images file names may be different.

Step 18. When you are finished with all steps for grill,
open grill in Internet Explorer. Click inside the Address
box and press Ctrl-C to copy the URL to grill. Open your e-mail client and
paste the URL into the body of the message. You should see a hyperlink to
your Web site appear. The e-mail subject line should be Your Name, last
4 digits of your student ID, T3WS.
Step 19. Next, open
homework.htm in Internet Explorer by clicking the Preview button. Click inside the Address
box and press Ctrl-C to copy the URL to homework.htm.
Paste the URL into the body of the message on a new line below the grill
URL. You should see a hyperlink to homework.htm page appear.
When you receive your grade for T3WS, correct
all errors as noted in my e-mail to you before you continue this case in
Tutorial 4. Any errors that are not corrected will result in another
deduction in T4WS.
Reply to my e-mail with the list of corrections as soon as
you have fixed all problems. I will make note of it and you are then ready
to continue to the next tutorial. I will use the list of corrections as a
checklist to be sure you made all changes.

|
- We will create and start work on your Final
Web site, Items 1 and 2, next week, so you should have your topic in

that's fine. But you need to have a topic in mind as a starting point
regardless for next week.

| Happy3-1,
15 points: Happy School News Article Import and Page
Editing. If you have not already completed the Happy School Web Site
EP2-1 for extra credit after Tutorial 2,
you will need to complete that case problem in order to start this one, as
each case file builds upon the previous chapter's file.
The Happy School has decided that they would like to include information
on their home page about academic programs, sports events, and general
school information, as well as an e-mail link to the school. You will import
information contained in a document created in Word that was used as a
newspaper article about the school in the local paper. You will also create
bookmarks for the page to information you import and hyperlinks from the Web
to sites of interest to the school's Web page visitors.
If necessary, start FrontPage and then do the following:
- Open the Happy Web site you created in project
EP2-1.
- Change the background color to red.
- Scroll down the page to the blue line just below the second paragraph
of text and place the insertion point on a blank line just below the blue
line.
- Click here to download the file
news.doc. Import the contents of the file into the Web page at the
blank space where your insertion point is sitting.
- Select the text School Athletic News, change the text to
Heading 3 and underline the text.
- Scroll to the end of the Web page and place the insertion point on the
line below Time! Insert a mailto hyperlink to the school's e-mail
address (Happyschool@school.net). Center the e-mail address under
the line above it.
- Click on the school bus image and change the image to transparent if
necessary.
- Your home page should be arranged exactly like the screen shot below.
Click the thumbnail below to see the enlarged home page and click the Back
button to return to this page.

-
When you are finished with all steps, open Happy in
Internet Explorer. Click inside the Address box and press Ctrl-C to
copy the URL. Open your e-mail client and paste the URL into the body of
the message. The subject line should be Your Name, last 4 digits of
your student ID, EP3-1.
